according to the Egyptian Ministry
of Petroleum and Mineral Resources headed by Minister Karim Badawi, bringing
the price of gasoline today to EGP 13.5.
The Egyptian government has been working
to restructure the subsidy system since the reform began in November 2016. In
April 2022, the price of 95 octane gasoline reached EGP 9.75 in Egypt. After
the increase in oil prices in 2024, the price of 95 octane gasoline increased
to EGP 13.5.
According to Alarabia news “Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said in July that petroleum product prices would gradually rise until the end of 2025, adding that the government could no longer bear the burden of fuel subsidies amid rising consumption.”” Egypt seeks to reform its public finances, including reducing budget deficit levels, with the aim of achieving financial sustainability, and is working with the International Monetary Fund to achieve a reform package.”
